So what you're saying is we should all grossly exaggerate our salaries to up the national pay bands...
Yes it's a real email. Mercer, originally SIRS, is a national salary benchmark survey. They cannot reduce your salary if you are above the average pay bands. Common practice is that you just won't be eligible for raises without a role/ pay grade promotion.
This is sent out to a random number of employees at every company from Mercer to gauge national salary bands for each role per industry. It is not coming from the company.
The data is then used by compensation analysts at companies who purchase the aggregate salary survey results
Is it real? I reported it as phishing
