Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Sarnia?

Can anyone clarify the current situation and schedule for Imperial’s Sarnia research facilities? I had heard they were being shuttered and relocated to Texas, but more recently I’ve seen that fewer than 100 personnel may be affected, with changes phased in through 2028.

Does anyone have factual updates or confirmation on what’s actually happening?

Worked at Sarnia research and quit after finding new employment after the closure announcement. There was about 120 people and it's down to 30ish now. We were told there would be no relocation down to Houston and they would replace us with new hires. Such a slap in the face.. so much experience and knowledge lost. EM is going backwards in research and technology.

Sarnia research was only 100 roles.

Timeline is same as Clinton, end of 2027 move is down.

Difference is that Sarnia Research folks are not being relocated.
A few will be placed elsewhere in IOL, many have already quit, the majority will be laid off

Will only 100 personnel be impacted? Wondering how many Canadians will really move to the US, Texas, for that matter. Most Canadians I know aren’t too keen on this administration and don’t want to travel here, let alone live here. Regardless of career.

Tough choices to make.
