No furloughs, but will fire everyone for anything. Same outcome.

Vena’s already cut about 10,000 employees from UP, he’ll probably go for another 10,000 when he can.
The biggest part that people are missing the most right now with this deal is the timing. Vena said very clearly in a statement that your job is protected when the merger happens. There's no mention of job security before the merger. What about the other unionized workers that he claims he wants to protect? Is there any guarantees for them, or is it just for the SMART-TD workers? There's a lot of time between now and a merger where he can reduce jobs rather significantly to satisfy himself. His words of guarantee don't mean sh!t to me at all! I was one of the few people that had the very unfortunate honor of being around him at the CN. DO NOT TRUST HIM!!!
They fooled the union into an agreement by telling them there would be no furloughs, while instead planning to eliminate employees through rule/attendance violations.
