Anyone work in S&D who can reveal what the wizard of oz is actually doing behind the curtain? How does it actually work? If I find a job that I am qualified for and the team wants me to join can S&D prevent it from happening?

I used to get D’d by one…..yes, S&D can overrule the team managers.
From what I have seen they just give the good jobs to their friends and have no plan for the rest of us who aren’t hipos. Also the whole skill assessment is just a pretend exercise to make people think they can develop and have a career. Total bs
There is NO career left in ExxonMobil. Its BS after BS. Its a very mediocre company and will remain so.
Could probably get rid of most of them seeing as how there isnt really any mobility left for most of the company.
Just a bunch of lackeys. Probably worse now than it's ever been. Due diligence d-bags working for HR.
It’s all still based on who you know and unfortunately not what you actually know…
@fh I have heard coed or cowl something like that mentioned before but don’t know what it is. All I know is they meet once a month to approve certain moves but I don’t know who they are or which moves they must approve.
An AI agent could do all the D&S jobs since hi-pos are managed by coed and discipline managers. Look- I saved you 30+ HC10 CAF in structural savings, Kathy!
Excellent department for Kathy to cancel. Post jobs for all to see and promote meritocratic competition.
It is a cr-p shoot unless you know the right person. I was moved into a horrible group and can't get out. The good positions always go to the chosen ones. The left overs go to the rest. I have seen the most unqualified employees moved to high visibility projects. Exxon is bizzaro world.
You used to be able to work directly with your SD rep but they've moved towards only speaking with your manager and making background moves.
Best way to get into a new job is to network directly with the job owner and build a case for why you'd be a good fit. If successful the owner will advocate for you in their staffing sessions.
Gotta have immediate LTs approval as well correct? I’ve never seen any of this work the way it should. You’re either a pawn in a reorg or your friends with someone. Can’t wait till it’s over.
It's a bunch of flunkies checking the box on their IDP, horse trading within silos, all still based on excel tools.
