It depends what the job is Some jobs are highly reliant on experience as the kit changes after a few years and support is necessary from engineers to have have been there a few years to know that kit and then draw on their experience to help others .You simply can't buy that

you think GCC support is bad. That's what happens when you stick somebody behind a desk who doesn't have the hands on experience. And that's why the best support engineers are frequently EX field service engineers.

i have been training new offshore contractors for two years.. one in twenty-five is skilled enough to be left alone after x months, it's debilitating
