So instead of promoting their people internally who have been here for years, they hire people externally who have no knowledge of our systems and contribute barely anything?? And I think we all know they aren’t being hired based on any type of qualifications. If everyone on the team looks the same, makes you think. And I mean everyone. Starting to believe interviewing and hiring here is totally rigged. What are the qualifications to work here anyway?

Leadership never thinks about if things will be ok. Decisions are based wholly on short term valuations at all costs. Labor costs are paramount in that equation. Replacing local US born seasoned employees with lower paying jobs and inexperienced workers, growing off- shore workforce, using AI is only a distraction. Been here over a decade- many failed attempts on all fronts. Labor cost is the only worthwhile tool management has - at your expense.
Where are people getting rec's from is my question? My department seems to have the same people on rotation, or at least for my team. I haven't seen more than 2 new faces and I haven't seen anyone been let go of yet(which is a good thing obviously) but we are absolutely drowning in work. The scope grows, yet the body count doesn't.
I think most new hires are contractors that they can easily drop from the books as the economy continues it's downward trajectory. honestly don't think you can blame Mike, short term hiring is the best thing for the company given the status of the federal government. My advice is to find or stay in a job that is as recession proof as possible. You may not love the pay/position now but a year or two out you'll be grateful to have a somewhat secure job.

In general, hiring can help lessen workloads and get folks heads above water. It also incentives scope creep and creates administrative overhead.
Fiserv is generally REALLY bad at leadership. HR and corporate mandates for folks to have wayyy too many direct reports have created a system where managers don’t know what the he-l their people are doing and are barely even people managers in any definition of the word. There are countless studies that show even 6 directs are too many for one person and I’ve seen folks here with regularly 18+. So headcount doesn’t build more effective teams or processes, but it can allow for greater flexibility to create dedicated specialists and redundancy or alternates for critical bottlenecks.
As for the Indian comments everyone is making. It seems like that’s just tech in general. A mixture of culture and cost saving measures. I personally find the FGS model couldn’t be more poorly implemented if we tried, but it’s never going to change.

What a complete tragedy, when just a year, 2 years ago, you had a lot of qualified, dedicated, and knowledgeable employees at the company.
After FB gutted the place to inflate the stock price, it now requires new people, and guessing H1B visa types. It is what happens when the Leadership rips the company apart from the inside and thinks things will be ok.
You're not wrong. I'm also seeing more temp workers here than ever before, too.
