SUGGESTION STEALING BY BOSSES?

Ever thought thru an issue, come up with a tangible improvement and presented to your supervisor only to have them dismiss it or say it won’t work?
Then, surprise! Months later the same suggestion comes full circle, now for implementation, from that same boss as THEIR idea. They take the credit and collect the accolades (and financial bump).
I had this happen with 2 Brit bosses in London. Really, almost verbatim of my plans.
How do you guard against this? Talk about demoralizing when you’re trying to be proactive and your ideas are usurped by your superiors.
Sound familiar? How do you derail this behavior?

@mf Broadly "socializing" my idea will create "socialist" ownership of my idea. MY. IDEA. If I tell my peers, what's to keep those ratfvckers from stealing MY IDEA? And if I share my idea, what, then am I supposed to listen those drones blather about theirs? BOOKRRRIIING.
The only credit that matters comes from up the reporting chain, not laterally. Nothing says teamwork and collaboration like going over my boss' head to their boss, trying to catch all that sweet, sweet corporate cred raining down like a golden shower.
If I broadly socialize it, then what if boss tries to take credit? Am I supposed to file a complaint and bring in witnesses who can testify that they heard the idea from you?
Jfc you are one weak minded mf'er.

Must make sure you socialize the idea broadly and never in a one on one environment.

Very true. My lead took credit for my ideas and hard work. So I made sure that my vp and everyone knew the truth. So then I guess my lead claimed credit on his cv and took a vp role at another company. Win win win lose.
