Get rid of SBG and management

Get rid of the entire SBG and its management chain. We have people like SS posting on LinkedIn about using AI for Security. stupid org filled with stupid people. The security is bottom tier with bottom tier folks

Has SS in any all-hands ever given anyone the perception that they are competent or does SS just sound like they are faking it? Honestly, there is no confidence in SS at all. Their statements always sound like they are coming from cue cards.

@hf haha that is accurate. We got like no security here. Things are like wide open to be abused. STO does nothing and I know we have an internal security team but has anyone worked with them ? Omg

This gets passed around almost weekly in sbg land XD

Is Cisco Umbrella Secure Internet Gateway (SIG) Holding You Back?

A lack of security service edge (SSE) vision
Secure web gateway (SWG) is crucial to security service edge (SSE), but Cisco introduced SWG only recently in 2018. Cisco has made multiple attempts to build a SSE (and SASE) platform, with secure access being their latest effort. However, some components remain poorly integrated.

integration-challenges
Integration challenges
Cisco Umbrella SIG lacks native integration across different technology stacks, inevitably leading to performance, security, and resiliency issues. There is also a risk of dependency on Cisco products, making future changes costly.

usability-issues
Usability issues
Cisco Umbrella SIG is not user friendly. Initial deployment hassles and a clunky UX pose significant challenges for security and networking teams.

Yes, SBG is absolutely a joke. SS and TG are clueless. Unified platform is just a dog and pony show for the con top management to milk Cisco for just a few more months before they can no longer lie. There is no hope for SBG and hopefully CR will close it down and end this misery.

I find it amusing that SBG has a platform team dedicated to pulling all of the disparate security products, and soon networking products, together in to one place... and yet nobody thinks of Cisco as a unified platform. No single pane of glass. At best the "platform" is a linked dashboard.

Any gambler or day trader knows the old addage: You don't double down on a bad bet. We've all done it...you keep putting money into the slot machine even though its just draining you...or you chase some d-mb stock down the gutter.

SBG is the classic "bad bet" that Cisco just can't stop throwing money at. SBG has already failed, there is no debate on that. If you believe in Gartner's "Magic Quadrant" (and Cisco ELT definitely does), then Cisco's reputation in security is actually degrading over time, with good reason.

The products are terrible. Nothing is shared as a platform, most products don't even look the same. The teams do the bare minimum to stay employed. All the "security" results the products provide are trivial or superficial. The customer list is a collection of nobodies who accept Cisco's low bid for antiquated products like VPNs.

On top of that, Cisco has folded Splunk in to this mix. Without a doubt the worst acquisition in the US in the last five years (not just limited to tech).

Firing TG won't help. Reorgs won't help. Mass LRs won't help. SBG simply needs to go away. No one will ever buy it from Cisco, it just needs to GO AWAY.

With all the acquisitions and resources in SBG, it is totally pathetic we are so weak in security
