Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Ireland layoffs

Not sure what’s happening in Ireland, a lot of people are going and have left. Not sure if there getting redundant package. I think most are leaving because of attrition. Any know what’s happening here

@aq I got my severance. Genuinely relieved to be out of the place. 7 weeks per year paid in lump on 25th Sept

@a6 I left Intel with a package this year. I am so glad to be out of the place. The environment had become toxic and people overworked with little reward. The management is a sh1tshow. S24 left loads of experienced techs go last year and now they are bringing CMT back from S28 and haven't enough techs to run it now.
There is no joined up thinking in that company. I honestly breathed a sigh of relief the day I left and have no regrets about it. I feel sorry for those left there.

Foundry is starting the process of removing excess capacity which is a legacy strategy from IDM1.0.

As they shift to a fab capacity strategy based on proven demand, rather than people lying to each other, that means less tools and less workers. It will take longer, but that also means less fabs.

This is all way overdue and the amount of excess is measured in the tens of billions, so expect more action going forward.

I think the hope was that this second attempt at the foundry business would solve the underlying capacity mismanagement, so what is happening now is reality-based management.

it is all good

This whole site will sh-t down as they’re loosing money and politicizing the company which is what Irish do best

It's very uneven, most are busy and just getting on with it. I do feel for the good ones who are being let go but plenty are fine with taking the package and going elsewhere. It's obviously not ideal, but not disastrous.

@OP: In Leixlip about 200 engineers are impacted. Last day is September 5th or September 30th, depends on organization.
