Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I swear Verizon is like a black hole for careers

You start excited and five years later you’re wondering what even happened. It’s all meetings and bureaucracy, zero growth, and no one seems to notice whether you’re actually good at your job. Definitely not what I signed up for.

@cs Be careful moving for "promotions". The newest person in the office is typically the first to get the ax when the layoff orders come through. Happened to a good friend of mine who moved her family around "progressing" through the company.

By year five I was my third role within the company and nearly doubled my salary. Have you considered moving for promotion?

And yet you are still here. Feel free to make a change so there won't be a year 6. I bet you won't.

Once you see other companies’ benefits, suddenly the grass is NOT greener.
