Gave notice yesterday and will have my last day Sept 30.
October 6 I take my project management and planning skills to a new employer.

@e3 “you’re”. That’s why we need AI to replace you and those like you.
Good stuff! I would but no one can touch the salary Dell pays me so here I am. I just had an offer where they sought me out and offered me $80k less for more responsibility and no RSUs equivalent
@b0 Then get to selling! How the he-l do you think you sell? There’s a whole team of people behind you enabling you. Your pigeon holed in your career. The PM guy - employable across multiple vertices. You’re an “I pick things up and put them down” That’s all you’ve got and not exactly transferable unless you stay in tech. Or you could sell cars at a dealership. Sales is becoming an outdated profession in age of technology and information at our finger tips. Project Management , always a need.
@b1 nah. I’m in field sales. We’ll always have plenty of work, and more money than you can dream of with those “skills” of yours. Run along now, Clippy. There’s some macros that need editing.
@bm Sad thing is that during the march layoffs it was our teams (ISG support) top 5 performers and a few middle performers that got let go. The handful that only take one or two calls per week were all spared. It's almost like Dell wants us to fail.
@bm sometimes it works, sometimes not.
@a8 Nice! I'm hoping by "take my skills to a new employer" that means you already have a job lined up...
@a8 Yeah but, that's not how it works... I'd almost say that by asking to be laid off you are more likely NOT to be let go. Why would Dell willingly let someone go who wants it only to then be forced to pay out a severance?
Your best bet IMO, is to just start slacking off majorly and so then when your managers boss comes asking who is a low performer, you'll be it, or one of them. Then you get laid off and collect a severance.
@b6 one at least. :-D
Someone makes it out and the dell-lifers boo and hiss.
Losaahs hate when others win.
@b0 Sounds like you’re jealous that someone is leaving you, with your obsolete tech skills, behind.
Cheerio! I am sure we will miss those “skills” deeply. Or find another over-paid spreadsheet jockey to replace the one who’s leaving…
Congrats!
Congratulations on your new company and new job! I'm sure it will be more stable than where you are now.
Can't we just not employ you and use AI and Smartsheets?
Should have just asked to be added to the next round. You’d get a severance check out of it for a few more weeks of time in the company.
Enjoy life outside, it's sunny here!
