Lets wish Torsten all the best in his unexpected own business venture. This is his final week at 3M.

ESC internal organization is in a mess. Group president attrition. SVP clueless with conflicting directions. Sh1tty times ahead.

How are they going to spin this to whoever interviews for the role? Nobody actually believes this guy decided to "start his own business" 4 months into the job.

Just saw the Q3 ESC townhall has been cancelled abruptly. Session was supposed to be on 9/16, at Bldg 225.

Guess they aren't prepared to answer why the ESC president has decided to leave. Ha!

Bring in more consultants. Yes.

Okay so let’s think outside the box here. Two outsiders in a row have failed. Bring in someone from Kearny to run ESC. Allow him or her to bring in his or her favorite 3 people from Kearny headquarters to help make decisions.

@ak
Gotta love that the interim replacement just joined the company and his career experience is limited to being a consultant (https://investors.3m.com/governance/corporate-officers)

Seems like Torsten is around 59 yo. A good runway till mandatory retirement age. He must have seen something bad within 3M, to decide to cut-loss within 4 months of joining. Bad sign.

I would think this is a really bad sign for all of us in what he saw. Probably decided it was time to bail. Not good, not good. Was hoping he’d made the change we needed in esc

Such a 3M comment - still looking to trade off metrics rather than do your job and solve the problem to deliver safety, service, inventory, cost. Welcome to supply chain and the 21st century…

The interim person to take over is Jon van Wyck, who also recently joined in Ap2025. Let’s see how long would Jon stay on. Any takers?

How is the departure of a major corporate officer not a material event that requires an 8-k filing with the US SEC? Torsten Pilz is one of only 4 presidents out of all the 3M corporate officers (15+ people). While not a COO, he has a COO like function given the direct impact of ESC on all BGs. Even Tireman’s departure was communicated in an 8-k filing. Odd.

Let's just make sure the next one is not distant remote... let's make all our directors, VPs, SVPs, EVPs, group prez, etc all be on site to be the example.

Not sure if he disliked working under BBs tyrannical rule or BB didn't like his attitude. Either way, the over-under on the next VP is 6 months. Place your bets in Reno accordingly.

"Opportunity to start his own business"

Translation - has enough money to basically just quit and go do whatever he wants when he wants to.

He said yeah no I am not doing this. When the massive salary isn't worth the headache, kind of says a lot doesn't it. Same, Pills, same.
