Engineering career

If I was a young engineer I would steer into power engineering. We will always need power.

Good advice, but know that power engineering, and getting your PE license, is really difficult compared to software. They don't get paid enough. They also have to frequently go out in the field and supervise work, walking through muck and tick infested fields.

I think about this more lately. If I was younger and a little more healthier I would have gone into some kind of trade or healthcare. Once considered religious life years ago but that wouldn’t be feasible now, maybe volunteering in community and church.
