Ive been wanting to come back on here after hawking this site in May/June/July of 2024. July was my last time checking because I was laid off from US Foods after almost 4 years, being promoted every year and receiving excelling ratings every performance review and delivering multiple major projects on a market level and corporate/org level. I was brainwashed. Mostly my fault, thinking what could be better than working 70/80 hour weeks and making a bag of cash. Well, I was forced to find out I was wrong. Didn't apply to a single job over those 4 years, let my network fade, because - what did I have to worry about?! It's changed my whole perspective on employment completely. Don't ever stop applying, don't ever stop networking, because at the end of the day, we are all surviving, just like every company does to make their PM %'s or grow the bottom line before financials are released. Bright side is, got a job making the same money, put in just my 40, work for a company that encourages balance and time off, work with competent experts and teams that share the accountability rather than play politics and blame games... it all ended up making the layoff from US Foods one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Job market blows right now, but don't let that stop you from checking your value and prepare you for the uncertain future.
