Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Do managers intentionally isolate high performers?

It seems my manager is intentionally shutting my contribution down, even after evidently doing more work than rest of the team.

I have received zero appreciation from my my manager, instead keep receiving same comments for Quarterly.

Is this normal?

Weak managers are threatened by great performers. My leader was one and so was his boss and her boss.

Seems to be a common theme lately so they don't have to promote you

Don't worry too much about the quarterly reports.

I made a fuss about that earlier on and it actually doesn't matter much. Getting ahead isn't so much about quarterly reports but moving around business units, and aligning yourself with good folks with some power.

There's a difference between they don't give you accolades on your quarterly review and they're undermining you through it.

This person seems indifferent to your career --or, to be more charitable toward them, feeling not confident about their ability to get you cash or promotions so they're keeping your expectations down.

@ay no it's not BS.

Managers in this firm are known to encourage mediocre talent to the top while more deserving associates slog their way to clean up the mess from squads to squads with no appreciation

Yes they do.

This is a new post BME strategy, if you're not in same region as your manager they will ask team to not reach out to you and instead approach someone who are in the same region / location.

Lot of level 7 associates are also using this as a strategy to demoralize.

It su-ks, but that's the way Fido operates.
