Thread regarding Fannie Mae layoffs

There are still a lot who don’t come into the office

I just need to vent. I still have to go into the office four times a week, while some people moved out of state and never even show up. I know there are many in other groups who honestly wouldn’t make a difference if they got laid off, but no one seems to care. It’s so frustrating. At first, I didn’t really care and even felt sympathetic toward them because they had no choice but to risk being laid off, but now management is just enforcing stricter rules on those of us who actually come into the office, and I have no words.

@1he of course it's not necessary. For 5 years straight management was telling you that. It's all because of the new sheriff and management having no spine.

I wouldn't wish people who work remotely to be all let go just because I'm working in the office, it just doesn't sound right. The real point is whether it's necessary of RTO and if it's indeed helping with working efficiency.

@ct be aware that the culture is against working remote. People who are looking for an inclusive work environment or career mobility will find it’s a difficult fit and dead end.

@ds Yes, and they should all be let go if their peers near an office have to come in 5 days a week. Make up your mind, Fannie, are people productive at home or not?

@ct There are still many who work 100% remotely and are not required to relocate by October if they choose not to move back to the DC area.

@ct Not only that but the entire Pulte ordeal with people not being in the office was a publicity stunt. Now that we are passed that stage management should step in and protect it's workers and relax these rules. But management is spineless. Morally bankrupt bunch that doesn't deserve an ounce of respect.

@cg How is it not better? The company said remote people would have to return to the office or be let go, and then approved practically all remote people to stay that way. Every day I hear oh my sick kid is home, oh I'm under the weather, sorry I'm out running an errand, oh I'm working from XYZ location before I start my vacation. Those in an office have to use PTO for all of that, plus lose hours of personal time a week to getting ready and commuting. And some of us are in mandatory 5 days a week. Glad you found another opportunity, but let's not pretend the situations are in any way equivalent.

I am remote. The situation is nothing better for remote professionals. I chose to accept other opportunities instead of sticking to all of these nonsense.

@ae, what is "intellectual dishonesty"?

You totally have a point. Entire leadership has lost it's moral compass. There is no transparency and there are no uniform policies across the organization. Just lies and intellectual dishonesty.
