Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Cuts first, think later. If they even think at all.

Anyone who thinks the business will run more smoothly now can forget about it. What we’re really in for is more workload, missing critical roles, and teams left in disarray. If anyone has seen a single case where layoffs served some strategic purpose, please share. Because I sure haven’t. I’ve already lost a couple of people my team badly needs.

Great people were let go or demoted. Those demoted will soon leave. Terrible people were kept, and they will end up on a PIP soon enough. No, these were very, very poor decisions. The only way it makes sense is the bottom line. The next phases of offshoring and outsourcing are going to be brutal. Get out while you can, this is a sinking ship.

@OP Yes. So far with internal restructuring the redesign is starting to show it will work. With change approvals we now have several less layers of approval to go. This is a win as some teams have already been changed and the approval layer is set in ServiceNow.

But also blame those men that were GP's and Directors for spending around a billion from 2020 to 2023 which caused the need for Indian contractors. Jim Bob down in tech that does COBOL didn't want to learn Java or GO, or Mulesoft. Refused to skill up because he didn't want to. What do you do? Well you replace him with an Indian contractor that has a Masters in Computer science and has worked projects with Microsoft and others and has a list of success.

You need to look at the root cause.

My team has 4 associates: 3 of us took the VSP, 1 is a new hire. Good luck.
