Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Spin vs. Reality - Miami Theater, Not Market Growth

Sampath’s post is pure smoke and mirrors. “Transformation in months”? Please. The only thing that’s transformed is how fast leadership churns out buzzwords while frontline employees are buried in RTO nonsense, broken systems, and nonstop cost cuts.

“Once in a lifetime opportunity”? For who — the execs on stage collecting fat paychecks while the business bleeds customers and morale tanks? The Value team isn’t setting a new standard — they’re just the latest props in Verizon’s never-ending PR circus.

Growth? Sure, in empty slogans and staged photo ops. Out here in the real world, Verizon is shrinking.

They call him Scampath for a reason. Value is a sinking ship. Look at revenue, lost customers, and terrible service levels. I work at Value, used to work for Tracfone. Never have I seen such a poorly managed operation, lack of execution, and a bunch of yes men with no vision. The numbers don’t lie.

I was there and you couldn’t be more wrong. The future is very bright in Value so long as they keep serving up this unbelievable surf and turf AYCE buffet. You could tell there were cutbacks as we only got Caribbean spiny lobster instead of Maine lobster. With enough truffle butter, you couldn’t tell to be honest.

@OP You are so correct!

From his director days spent beating a drum looking for an audience to spin a tale to, among an audience comprised of 'strategy' spin-doctors shopping their own bright ideas in the Strategy, Development & Planning group.

Like Svengali, Sampath initially su-ked in many, who soon caught on that 'the oriental man with a plan' is really just a good carnival huckster. The dreams he sells melt into mirages, but before they disappear, so too will Sampath the Showman, out the door and failing-up into some new misadventure, from yodelling for Yahoo to now running Consumer into dust with no returns.

The dude has chutzbah that's for certain. What a set of cojones to pull this off!

All smoke, all mirrors, nothing to show but spent air, lost market share, flat revenue

Did you just learn the entire business world operates on smoke and mirrors? Every single company does this. I find it hard to believe execs truly believe what they spew out, otherwise they're just surrounded by yes men/women only showing positive narratives.

@OP

The BSG boy with his buzzwords — all talk, no leadership, and nothing he can say back.
