Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Got separated

Happened yesterday, but had the night to sleep it over. Many years of hard work and I’m not optimistic about the coming months looking for a new job.

@pn can't tell if you're being a je-k to @OP. It's going to be difficult, but it might also be "good" for him. region beta paradox

You'll be just fine. You will end up on your feet and land yourself a nice job that doesn't su-k the life out of you.

You are 100% sure that OP had "bitched about how bad this place was for months"? Or some anonymous poster(s) have and you randomly assigned them to OP?

By God I've seen some mo--nic takes on this board but this is among the worst.

Hi troll

You don't work at Ford, do you son?

If you did, you'd know productive people are separated all the time. The ad-hoc nature of the seemingly constant re-orgs reminds you of a bunch of freshmen who have no clue where the "pool on the roof" is.

Laid off is a euphemism as well. A true layoff is temporary. What is happening now and in recent years is involuntary termination, but that sounds harsh so involuntary separation is the common lingo.

You got "separated"? - is this newspeak for "laid-off"?

Once you’re over 50, the chances of getting another job in this agist society is less than 75%, and drops dramatically the closer you get to 60.

I’ve been out of work for 2 years now.
But I go to Costco and see all the young foreign people who aren’t speaking English buying basket fulls of the nice stuff.

Good for you. Now go find a mother job and be productive so you don't get laid off again.

@OP

Sorry to hear this. Does also make it difficult on the people still there when someone who knows about thier work leaves. A lot of loose ends and a lot of work the shuffle around.

One tip. Be willing to take interviews out of your comfort zone/area. Your experience is applicable more ways than you think.
