Thread regarding Appian layoffs

RTO is pointless

I don’t get why we’re being told to come back to the office. It doesn’t feel like it’s about the work. We already proved we can do our jobs at home. It just feels like productivity theater.

They say attendance is going to be part of reviews now. But the bonus is laughable and the RSUs don’t mean much. Doesn’t seem worth it.

What gets me is the execs still working remote. Some of them barely show up at all. Feels pretty hypocritical.

And honestly they can’t fire everyone. The company needs us more than they admit. These rules only matter if we all go along with them.

@eg not only is she the mouthpiece, she's also his ex-girlfriend. No creds, no CPO or actual HR experience. Just MC's ex. Gotta love the merit based system!

@h0 I agree with your sentiment. But as an Individual, our only leverage against capital is to quit. Once we unite as workers of Appian, we will become irreplaceable. Capitalist cannot fire every single worker. WE SHALL UNITE AND FORM A UNION AGAIN CAPITALIST! DEMAND ROLL BACK OF RTO! We shall turn this place from a mere rant outlet to a place we CONGREGATE, PLAN, FIGHT for the portion of surplus value we deserve. LET UNITE AND FIGHT BACK AGAINST RTO!

everything at Appian is performative success theater, while ignoring numerous, obvious problems

Rumor has it that Matt Calkins ran into Jensen Huang in the bathroom at a recent tech conference, and while they were washing their hands, it occured to Matt that this was his chance to speak to Jensen 1:1, and he may never be able to again.

Matt turned to Jensen and said:

"You know, you should force everyone into the office, you'll see productivity and innovation improve."

Plan is to game the system up until the October review cycle then stop complying/quiet quit/job hunt until they fire me

Don't comply.

MC already walked back 5 days to 4 but said "average 4/5" because he knows he doesn't hold the cards, as he would like. You can ignore CPO, she's just MC's mouth piece.

It’s all about Matt’s ego, he has architected a big building now he wants to fill it. Dinosaur leadership

Zero percent about productivity, collaboration, company culture, or any of those tired lies.

Some combination of voluntary attrition, commercial real estate value, tax breaks, and good old fashioned control.

Problem is, enough people will cave and the few left will be easy enough to cut.
