@d4 The unfair influence happens all the time in every industry. Shady managers who share interview questions, prep their chosen ones with the answers. It's about who you know, not what you know. The only thing you can do is try your best and let the chips fall where they may.
@d4 spelling correction* If he can stand for this type of internal corruption but can’t stand against government policies that ruin children’s health, maybe it’s time for HIM to move on!
Laying off employees who have been loyal to the organization and comparatively underpaid their entire career because they believe in helping CHILDREN is evil. But it’s ok for USC to allow leaders to marry doctors who work in the same departments so they can secure their own financial future. It’s okay for directors to facilitate hiring of their own children through unfair influence in the nursing residency program. Paul Viviano has a BASE salary of at least 1 MILLION dollars a year and vice presidents 300K and above. If he can’t stands for this type of internal corruption but can’t stand up to government policies that ruin children’s health, maybe it’s time for HIM to move on!
I was, too.
It was horrible and we need CMS and the trump administration to start caring for their citizens. Also- People keep quoting the number wrong. 6% of positions were impacted, but only ~ 3% were laid off. The other 3% are being reorganised. Doesn’t make it any easier, but it’s not as big.
Did all the layoffs happen today or will they roll it out over the next month? Yes, the email was sent today but what about the actual layoff notices to each individual?
CHLA's CEO, Paul Viviano, sent that dreadful announcement on Wednesday (4:45 am) to all 7,500 employees; stating they need to layoff ~6% of the workforce mostly in supervisory/managerial positions. Many department leaders scrambled to have meetings with their staff to discuss the restructuring. It's nothing uncommon for healthcare industry.
It was devastating 😢
I was one of those 253 people.
