this industry was not always filled with desperate people, hanging on for another buck.

I got about 3 months (I was laid off in December and NY unemployment helps, but not that much)

What's Changing
Maximum Benefit Increase:
New York's maximum weekly unemployment insurance (UI) benefit will increase from the current $504 to $869 in October 2025.

Debt Paid Off:
This increase is possible because New York State has paid off the significant debt it incurred during the COVID-19 pandemic when the unemployment fund was in deficit.

What does it matter what OTHER people have in savings? Stop posting stupid Ai generated type questions just for the sake of generating new conversations - this is not your personal social media. Seriously, everybody has their own individual personal savings based on a plethora of variables such as married status, age & years in the biz, family size, family wealth etc. + stop comparing yourself to others

Try to save 6 months if you can. NY unemployment maximum is $504 per week. Probably not enough to cover rent in most cases.
