I don't understand that logic - - why do they think that someone who is no longer 'good enough' to work for this company is good enough to train their replacement?

Because they are a cheap-a-s company and want to transfer as much knowledge as possible to someone earning $1 or $2 per hour in another country, and don't really care how much customer service suffers as long as the short-term goals and management bonuses are met.
