Thread regarding ViacomCBS layoffs

I’d have only one real regret if I’m laid off

My team. When I joined four years ago, I landed in the best team I’ve ever worked with in my entire career. Not only was there zero toxicity, which is rare enough, but people genuinely had each other’s backs. We weathered countless crises and pressures simply because we stuck together. It’s been a truly unique experience, and I wish we could stay intact as a team, though I know that’s unlikely now. Whatever happens, I wish us all luck. And I hope we can keep it together mentally before this whole thing is behind us.

@mg I do not wish to disparage anyone, but the Pluto TV is one of the worst apps out there. I personally have issues with it no matter where or how I access it. Friends and family always tell me how they find it difficult to use. P+ is not much better.

Pluto TV people are the best. They hired the best, that’s why that app is so good and why it makes money. Everyone is so helpful and love their work and it shows. Nobody there deserves to get cut. These layoffs feel unfair to teams that actually do their part to make Paramount Global money. Why penalize functional teams?

  • 1 to the OP, and this honestly has been the prevailing sentiment of everyone who works at Pluto TV. Up until around when Bob Bakish left, this was the best work environment and organization almost all of us had ever been a part of. Fast forward a year and a half later...

sounds almost hard to imagine. toxic departments, snake-like behavior, pick-me's and lots of throwing people under the bus in an attempt to look better is much more common. culture of fear, micromanagement and the best is "feel free to let us know if you have any questions" and then if you ask a question, you're lambasted for asking.

Bravo! Beautiful sentiment as opposed to all the snarkiness on this platform.
