Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Glint Survey? Candid feedback? Just say no and save yourself

No survey is ever anonymous no matter what they say and even worse if you provide feedback voluntarily.

You are doing their jobs for them or at least giving them information so they can use against you when it's time.

They've we-ponized the survey and communication channel. When was the last time anything from the survey actually make a real difference besides the lip service for the scores improvements that don't reflect reality.

We provided feedback that we have too many VPs and the org needs to be flattened out, starting at the upper middle mgmt, and they did the opposite by getting rid of people that do the work instead of the pass through upper mgmt.

We asked for more transparency, trust, and a collaborative environment for a more productive and supporting culture and they did the opposite, politicizing all decision making, promoting yes people, making people go to many long "culture" re-education camp meetings to drill into us that they know best what the culture should be.

This is why trust is gone and the surveys will never reflect anything real.

Either naive or HR troll or TINO sympathizer trying to fish for feedback.

Giving feedback does not change anything at this place but make you a target. No one is saying don't be honest but simply skip the survey and focus on what you do best.

This place is toxic, lost credibility, and no one respect or trust the people in charge. All the problems are known and communicated daily but they choose not to do anything but lip service and token initiatives here and there to look good, let alone lots of follow up training and meetings to make them feel good. Good companies and management don´t need surveys to find out the company is broken and issues to fix. So many people laid off and nothing changed, so who´s left ? bingo mgmt and their wazs. This is why this place will fail and more layoffs until the real problems are fixed by getting rid of the amateur management.

Everyone is entitled to learn the hardway so answer away and identify yourself so you can look good and smart until they get rid of you.

It didn't occur to me to not be honest. I was honest. And I gave my name if they had more questions. I do hope it helps.

Or if you are working on your exit and DGAF be politely blunt and see what happens.

don´t waste your time and draw attention to yourself with surveys or feedback

sure short term accolades but long term payback

heads down, refine your skills for your next better gig and exit strategy where you don´t have to read comments like this for your companz

not all good coders are good managers and vice versa?

bad managers or personnel are promoted and hired by bad managers to protect themselves

in this toxic culture, current ELT and management is incompentent and they will perpetuate their proginy with similar management hires

criteria for current promotion or management hires are DEI, yes women or men, recognition of insignificant contribution, favor to friends and family

give honest feedback? seems very naive or inexperienced in this toxic culture

been there done that and management squandered opportunity to improve and did opposite

management action speaks louder than words

we all know how to protect ourselves now when responding to surveys or request for feedback

Not all great coders turn out to be a great managers and the reverse is true as well.
I have seen so many bad managers that were great software writers here. because we don’t have any great manager coaches nor any trainings. So Elon fans should not blindly follow their master’s quote.

Give a honest feedback.

A good quote by Elon:

"I strongly believe that all managers in a technical area must be technically excellent.

Managers in software must write great software or it’s like being a cavalry captain who can’t ride a horse!"

Guess what, if you are toxic AF your manager and your team sees this already. No surprises. I have also seen a leader weigh in on sharing the results and working to make change. There are good ones in TD. Can’t ask for much more from mine.

I was honest for the first time in the last glint survey and I was laid off in November. Coincidence? Maybe. But why chance it. It doesn't gain you anything by being honest. They never implement anything new based on the results.

After 20+ rounds of job cuts, the survivors know how to fill out these surveys in a way that keeps them under the radar.

If you are part of a large group under a manager and no easy way to track you down from the survey response. it is still worth giving your $0.02 worth

If we change nothing, then nothing changes.

May be brave enough to post a link to this forum/Glassdoor/blind in your survey.

I agree. Methinks a survey response cost me bigly. No good being honest

Unless you are your own manager or your manager is your parent, you can't trust your manager.

I dunno, it depends on your direct management maybe? My manager was super open about the results last time, stating he can't change the entire company but could help our team, and really asked to be open with the feedback. They took the feedback into consideration and took action themselves to address it, not pushing the work off to the team. It was great to see that and my manager is asking the same thing again, so I am looking forward to doing that again to make at least the team I'm on a better place.
