Cisco got rid of so many testers what do you expect. Issues get found very late and the flood of issues can’t be dealt with in time.
I have worked with development teams cutting corners and handing over scrappy code with no proper unit testing. Some of the dev managers don’t care about quality or code review, they just push the code to QA.
We had to stop testing and request dev to fix many basic features. Not every team is doing it, may be 30%.
Many time QA is forced to ship the product with many features dropped. If core features are not working, then Shift the FCS date and do the right thing.
Correct; Cisco has an approach right now which is ship first and fix later. Execs are under this odd misconception that customers will tolerate it. It's scary when you hear G2 say, "don't let perfect be the enemy of good enough". At this point, only an extreme amount of customer pressure for quality improvement will create a shift. Execs can't do it independently b/c then they "aren't being agile enough".
Cisco literally ships so many images across product line with tons of bugs. He’s not wrong.
Director of QA! Now what does that person do that the many managers don't? How many layers does one need ?
