@h5 coeeium was always slow and bad on our version. And just as bad when I tried it privately.. but at least it was fast.
@ej Codeium was ok (at best) until OpenAI purchased it and it was gutted. I am not 100% sure if it is codeium itself or Dell's implementation - either way, I agree! Why am I being forced to use a tool that is clunky and gets in the way and is a resource hog and crashing all the time?!?! If I wanted cr-p suggestions I could search stack overflow.
and we get dinged for not using them in our code
I’m so tired of literally all the kpis and metrics being faked at this place. I can’t claim to know if the same is true of what’s reported externally, which would be serious SEC stuff. But how could it be accurate when all of the internal metrics are fake. They force people to use some chat tool and block them from all other tools, then report great usage numbers. They harass you to use Codeium even though it’s god awful. The POCs are all sales fudged to a predetermined conclusion to please some exec.
If there were an ounce of integrity, we’d be doing double blind comparisons and seeing whether these tools actually improve anything before shoving them down our throats.
@OP Same story, slightly different angle:

Facts, that is why it is a bubble. There are hanfull of companies that know what they are doing. Majority are just memorizing new words to sound cool.
ya, but they can't tell you what the standards are. They just say 'use it'. If I don't need it, then why do I have to use it. I guess you have to use it just to use it. Pretty stoooopid to me
It's not big brother, you work for a company and they have tech standards for employees to use
and we get dinged for not using them in our code. I got an email asking me why I'm not using codeium....they are tracking your usage of ai tools. Big brother at work.
