Thread regarding Microsoft Corp. layoffs

They want people to quit

All the good things about working at Microsoft are disappearing. The biggest was probably job security, and that’s been gone for a while. Now RTO is heading the way of the dinosaurs too, which I think is an even bigger issue for many of us. At this point, the only conclusion I can draw is that they want us to quit.

Since quitting would give our "leadership" what it wants, I will take inspiration from Winston Churchill

"Never give in. Never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in, except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."

I will never quit. I will also never be a productive employee. Good luck with this, Microsoft.

Strange that a company that fosters and facilitates on-line collaboration would mandate RTO. Then again, stranger things are surely happening.

RTO is a quiet firing technique. That’s exactly the goal. You’ll soon find yourself coming to office to work with your colleagues in IST time zone wondering why you drove over an hour to sit in a cubicle to collaborate over the phone.

I concur. And the worst part is, it’ll work. Some of us live over 1 hour away from campus. My role was advertised as “WFH 100%”. If they go back on that and force RTO, morale is going to tank even further.
