I recently found out about this site a few days ago and while it's interesting... As to my own knowledge much of these "rumors" are false. What I can say however is that I am not looking forward to this upcoming week. I have 20 direct reports and sadly, have to let go 5 of them. My VP informed me of this on Wednesday and was told that it is not company wide but will primarily affect the sales org. Sunday is when HR is supposed to send out invites for layoffs in the coming week.

@c2 No. The way it works is I will gain 5 more "reports." I may never talk to them more than once/month simply because I'm required to have 1x1's and technically, they can be from almost any department. I may get one from IT, one from marketing, one from ISG, etc... It's a numbers thing in HR's eyes.
I honestly believe that we are not over with the layoffs at Dell, it is just the tip of the iceberg. Fasten your seatbelt, if you are in the US then your job is on the line.

Two months ago at Dell: managers with fewer than 20 employees were being cut.
Today at Dell: teams with more than 20 members are being told to lay off the rest of their people.
I can't trust this company anymore.
If you have 20 reports (the minimum headcount per leader) and are losing 5, then you're next to be fired.
