2029 MY Mustang Mach 4

Does anybody else think this 4 door Mustang is going to be a complete flop? With a 3.0L FHEV and no manual, it is a Mustang in name only, just like the Mach E. The only people who will buy it over a Camry or an Accord are id--ts who think they are cool for owning a "Mustang," just like the d-mbasses that buy a Mach E instead of a Model Y.

The 2027 Infiniti Q50S was just announced and it will have RWD, a manual transmission, and a twin turbo V6. The Mach 4 Mustang is dead on arrival

@yr They need to be able to relate. Otherwise, this will sound alien and it will be rejected. Serve society and you'll reach further.

I think we should leak more details like this on public forums just to fu-k over the company. Does anyone else have a program they want to leak? Anybody from the CE1 team want to post a picture of the pickup or 3 different SUVs you are working on?

@OP the executives that get paid a lot more than you decided to make the car because they think it will be successful. We're supposed to be impressed by their genius level insights, not question it. Of course, young families are going to buy a Mustang 4 door that will break down in 6 years, instead of a Camry that will last them until retirement.

Forget the Mustang. It's stupid for it to be a 4door. Build a sensible middle-class mid-priced vehicle for under 37K, so that the average family can buy a new vehicle. No way will I pay a car mortgage for 5yrs plus the Michigan insurance. you may as well live in a tent.

4 door mustang sounds bad until you realize that Porsche has SUVs and low 4 door type vehicles. I remember being surprised when those came out. But people seem to like them, so... I bet old school Porsche fans were as mad as Mustang fans were when they released Mach-E. But we peons at Ford cant afford a Porsche, so it aint us. Why aren't Mustang fans mad at all the old bad Mustangs out there? There are plenty that were, shall we say, questionable. Pinto-stang with vinyl roofs, weak 4 cyl rattly fox body hatchbacks with cheap wire wheel covers. Plenty of ugly to go around with the Mustang label on it.

Does nobody the remember the funny man, JF, talking about competing with Porche? Running the ring was all about ranking above Porche (then the vette came to eat our lunch) and now word of a 4 door Mustang, again? They need to look internally and fix this place from the inside out. Continuing to try and benchmark others, Tesla, Porche and now Slate without having "home" in order is a horrible move.

I have news for them, they will never compete with any german company nor any foreign company. When I was told they think the Toyota business model is garbage, I realized they are complete id--ts.

@OP A 2 door Lincoln makes WAY more sense vs. A 4 door "mustang".

@OP yes, it's going to be a sh-t car that nobody buys and it will be canned in 3 years

We all agree that initial Mach-e design is controversial (bloated round...), people/reviews complain about it but it is ignored. I really want it to be better defined (and a bit squarish). And if they put into it the new batteries, it can be cheaper and have longer range.
4-door Mustang if well defined and designed, can be a practical choice to a daily commuter with family. You can still have your Mustang now approved by your practical spouse.

@OP you are completely correct about people buying the Mach E because it is called a "Mustang", the Model Y beats it in almost every measure EV buyers care about (performance, range, space, software, self-driving, quality, etc.) except for its company reputation and politics but people still buy the Mach E like hotcakes

@a7 the people that want practicality are going to buy a sedan from a Japanese competitor. Nobody that wants practicality is going to put up with having their car in the shop for a recall every other month.

I wouldn't trust a company that doesn't have their own moat. Buying it and then white-labeling it doesn't hit the same either. Ford has like 50 different vendors. Mercy of vendor locked cars. Not a safe bet for me long term, no way. If GCP goes down, does that mean I can't open the door to my car? Yikes! Who sold this nonsense? Companies offering credits to Universities? Those geniuses graduated, and then the turnover is that everyone needs to use GCP? Genius!!!

Everyone is a genius. Thankfully we go to TOP SCHOOLS. We are now big GENIUSES. MBA taught me how to manage the unknown!! That means we should vendor-lock ourselves!

I think the Mustangs look more like SUVs. Bring back the sporty look.

The new 4-door Mustang (if it's something like a hybrid sport sedan) will likely target a different audience. People who want some noise, not just appliance-tier commuting. People looking for an easy-to-maintain car just want it to work, noise is distracting. I learned a valuable lesson and important lesson last year from the CEO of a premium internet provider where I host my servers in a top tier datacenter on their global network. He was on the phone with me while I landed my first client, who has now been with me for almost a year. I remember frustrating the poor guy (the client) with all the technicalities while my friend is telling me that I already had the client, there is no need to drown them in technicalities and make them seem like they have a new workload to maintain. To not lose the client... it should be set and forget. That's what my friend (a CEO who runs his own multi-million dollar business) told me as feedback since I asked him to watch me close my client for my business. People don't want to keep having to reach out to me whenever their server goes down, and most of the people working with me run a business and aren't very technical people. So I made sure to start with a structure where the servers are ready and available for them to access, without some random thing annoying them each day. Set and forget. Kind of like Camrys or Accords. Set and forget. You know the food is good when everybody is quiet, sort of thing.

Not everyone wants (or needs) a V8 manual sports car. Some people want performance and practicality.

@a5 To add onto that. I've been in GFX/UI/UX since I was little baby and I def would not only design the cars in a dif way, but also the infotainment. Elon Musk with the Cyber Truck was bold. I really liked it. Outside of the political issues others might have, that is what we really need. Nutty mad scientists creating unique and bold moves to push the boundaries to push innovation further.

Why would you compare a Camry to a Mustang, those are completely different price ranges, this is stupid ASF. Personally for that price range I'd buy something nice like a Lexus. I've been looking at the Hyundai Genesis G70 lately, it looks really classy. People usually buy a Camry for reliability, you can probably beat it up and it would still run fine unlike a Mustang which is high maintenance. I'd like a Model Y though because well, fully autonomous and just better head start to infrastructure. I heard Ford went against working with Tesla on self-driving... is the Mach E ready for autopilot through Waymo? I have safety concerns whereas Tesla is more battle-tested and I feel more confident. I don't want to be an early adopter of Ford's autonomous vehicles because of all the recalls. Before I picked out my current daily driver, I had the choice of what I have now and getting a charger. I asked my friend who had one and he told me straight up that I'd beat that sh-t up and I figured reliability was a good choice for me and so I took a responsible decision personally. If I want something a little more classy... especially to fit in Michigan and culturally, I might opt-in for a Chrysler 300... LOL. I also don't want to download an app like FordPass just to use the features of my car, neither do I want to ever deal or think about a subscription. I also don't want an app like FordPass to go down. That'd be annoying ASF. I don't want over-the-air patches and stuff, that stuff is scary... I recently saw a movie where one of the modern cars got hacked... I don't know how I feel about that so I might just get an older model before we all went software gung-ho. What would really be fun is getting a reliable car like an Accord or Camry and installing my own drive-by-wire kits by that guy Geohot who jailbroke the iPhone when he was 17 and then playstation a couple years later, seems like a really bright guy. I'd probably actually test it with the Acura or something now that I'm thinking about it. I'd trust him with OTA updates, hacker-man sounds like he would make It more secure. I personally don't like the big Mach E's because I saw dark-green ones on the roads and they look like dinosaurs, I don't know how to explain it. LOL. Plus the cars tablet is weird it's just vertical and looks out of place. I really do not like whoever designed the UIUX for the new Ford cars either. I get that they're trying to be different, but the forced neumorphism design approach just pi---s me off. I'm not very educated on cars that much so I hope people don't take offense if I haven't been into a plant!!! Each their own, right? I'd be open to getting a manual, but at the moment I don't have much incentive to learn. Mustang is just way different of a price range, especially for skilled employees working at Ford. Maybe if I joined FnF! I've been laughed at for my reliable car by my superiors here, I like my car though, there is 'lore' to it and I was paying homage... not politically but in a familial way.. they actually expected me to be driving something fancy or sportsy. I chose what I did for sentimental purposes, otherwise, it would've most likely have been a dodge charger for me.. plus I didn't want to copy my friend.... and I also would've beaten it up (as stated earlier)! I would trust a hacker like Geohots with OTA and I'd be open to playing around with DIY autonomy on a second test vehicle apart from a reliable daily driver, to put it simple. Sorry if this long-winded comment makes anyone yawn haha
