Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

So many are finally leaving Walgreens..... about time

I commend all the ones finally leaving Walgreens, there are a lot more than I thought would leave without being forced out. You have my full respect. You will be so much better off regardless of what you decide to do in life. For the ones that drink the kool aid nonstop and will never leave unless forced to, you get what you deserve. It's the best you can get is Walgreen's. Says enough.

@20s Walgreens turned to cr-p starting with Wasson. It's gone downhill ever since.

Walgreens is a sewer, it's started with the merger (hostile takeover) and just progressed from there. Let's not forget just how short sighted our Top leaders were. So fixated on image, they took away everyone's personal space to promote an "open work environment" for everyone but them. Although everyone was supposed to follow the model, how dare anyone expect Stefano or Ornella to sit in an open space. Then they had to build the infamous "$14M Bridge between buildings. Long terms spent years trekking between buildings in the other snow....but not our European friends. The bridge was finished right when Covid went into affect. Was never utilized except by a few, and then the buildings were sold. Nice move Stefano....then came Roz, Hsiao, Tracey, and ultimately Tim. Pathetic. What once was a fabulous company that treated its employees like family became a self promoting executive level train wreck. I hate to say it, but good riddance!!! Flush it down.......

@ht Support centers are pretty dismal workplaces. Employees hate working there and customers hate talking to them. Yes, Walgreens culture is definitely fear based.

I worked at Walgreens from fall of 2024 to this past march after the acquisition was announced. In the support center. It was awful. My manager was a toxic human being who didn’t know how to properly lead a team and the culture was entirely fear-based.
I got another corporate role at a health tech company and have a manager who is incredible and cares about his team. Sure it’s hard work and 4 days in office but I am SO much happier.
There is light at the end of the tunnel!

@c1 Very true but from what OP stated, I figured something more recent and sudden happened as in a large number of employees quit on their own.

When I first started working at Walgreens, each day we had:

a book keeper
a hallmark person
a store manager
an EXA
three MGTs
two MGT interns
photo person
cos person
reg person
two floor people

now, we have one shift leader and one cashier

so, by design, most people have already left walgreens

@OP From what I've experienced, Walgreens has been a revolving door for some time. Few stay if they have options. Has something changed? Has the number of people quitting suddenly increased? Any examples?
