Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Was this a smaller round?

It seems like fewer people than usual were affected. I'm not saying that makes it any better, especially for those who were laid off, just trying to figure out what exactly happened. As usual, the info we're getting from the higherups on this is basically nonexistent.

Last year there was a smaller layoff in Aug of about 350, then the massive 6000+ one in September.

it is not small, it was decided beforehand, whoever says they do not know, it is not true. There is a huge list under each BU, and that list won't appear several hours before the call.

You may be right. Size of layoff can be determined by money leftover from earlier restructuring plans.

A big layoff requires lots of manager to draft layoff lists. With more manager you get more reliable, authoritative posts here on a pending layoff. Most post this time seemed more speculative.

You will know the size by checking the WARN report in two months.
