Talk about not being able to read the room. Not surprisingly but clearly knew all the questions in advance. NOTHING about the exact timing of layoffs which they clearly know and have been preparing for over the past year. Instead, got to talk about flying airplanes with his dad and being in the room with Steve Jobs. So disappointing on so many levels.

@ch Welcome to the shark tank! It's a company mostly made up of demoniacs. I'm glad I'm out of there. My health has improved.
@rm Where did you hear that?
@r0 1/1 back 5 days
@qn the easiest way to trim the workforce is to end WFH.
I heard he is not a proponent of remote working. I am a remote worker (really remote) and I am not located near an office. Should I start looking for a new job??
@ek More than annoying, was actually embarrassing. Such public flattery
@ch I second your comment, and paramount finally has the funding it needs to survive.
@ek it was Cheeks!
Who was the dork whooping and hollering the whole time? That was really annoying
@OP He is not a leader at heart; he's still a wannabe actor at heart. And he's still playacting, trying to portray leadership through stagecraft rather than through honesty or transparency or -- heaven forbid -- actually saying or doing something that inspires people. It's all "me me me," no "we."
@ch Confirmed: you are naive. Everything you wrote made me chuckle, given he gave a press conference in which he said infinitely more to the media than to his own employees. If you can’t see how cowardly that was and how he doesn’t care about us beyond [forced sad face] “we have some very tough decisions to make”, well that’s on you. Keep defending yourself though, it is making me laugh!
Sounds like long timers who expect to hang on to their jobs forever while hating everything about the company.
Some of these comments feel personal and mean. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but what is the goal here? Yes, there will be mistakes, but he seems smart enough to find his way. You all wanted previous toxic leaders out - who do you think made that happen? Maybe I’m naive but I’m actually hopeful that some of those departures were a signal that the new leadership team will not stand for the toxic behavior that was described on this site. I don’t work in PR and I’m just a nobody. I guess I should thank you guys for teaching me that I’ll need a thicker skin if I ever become high profile enough to matter because you all would rip me to shreds if I told a story you didn’t like. I’m now wondering what people say about me when I share personal anecdotes - maybe they all hate my guts so now I’m paranoid and miserable and will become toxic because I have to keep my walls up and only surround myself with my trusted inner circle. So thanks?
@OP He only knows how to communicate to a) other entitled didn't-earn-it rich kids, and b) people who live to lick the boots of those people (also known as "temporarily frustrated future millionaires"). Learn to speak and act Manosphere-ially or head to the exit.
wasn’t expecting nepo baby with an airplane fetish to be the company CEO but here we are
“upcoming layoffs and restructuring could “exceed” the $2 billion target. “
Bye ✌️
@aj Did you share this post with him before you posted it? So obnoxious.
@aq no he was asked questions about it and answered. First time in media? You can’t be that stupid to not understand this was an intro to who is running the company.
@aj are you serious? Ellison spent 20 minutes talking about flying airplanes. It was a joke.
@OP 100%. He revealed himself to be an a-s who cannot read the room. This is what happens when rich kids get their way.
@aj no real employee would have enjoyed that garbage town hall. Do not quit. Wait for your severance and other updates.
If you didn’t like it and still complaining then please quit. Tired of the whining!
It was one of the best townhalls I have seen in a very long time. He seemed genuine and down to earth and he’s only 7 days in. I love his lean in approach and be ahead of the competition.
I feel energized and motivated!! Yes I’m nervous about my role and my job but it’s out of my control. I just hope they keep me cause I love this company so much and have so much to offer.
I am wishing him and his leadership team much success.
@aa Nope, long-term employee. I guess I just listened.
@ab Hey David, log off this website and go do something useful. Maybe focus on your flying and storytelling or something.
Intro spiel was good. He came across energized and excited. Interview was weird and didn’t add anything. Thought we’d hear more from rest of leadership today. If you expected a date and time for layoffs you are d-mb and should be laid off immediately.
@a3 Is this an Ellison burner account??
@OP dare I say, bad storytelling
Ya Bob Bakish was so much better...
@OP Disagree. He talked about layoffs twice. Once in his opening speech and then also answered the question. He was pretty direct.
This town hall screamed “I’m a rich nepo baby”
I loved the part when he brought out Jim Nantz to interview him with softball questions for the rest of the town hall and then it was over
