Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

New EJ Contractors

I know some associates who hold MBA’s from accredited colleges/universities whose positions are now being performed by home based contractors in India. Does anyone know the employment qualifications for Indian home based contractors? Are they same as contractors/associates in the US? Sure glad Americans spend time and money getting into the home office. I believe India is definitely outside of the one hour commutable radius.

My old team had 10 of us who were "optimized" in september 2023. We had train our replacements from sept-november with hard deadlines to teach them everything regardless if they understood the work. It aas a complete dumpster fire. 4hrs a day ba----g your head against the wall training 5 people at the same time who had zero clue what it is we do here. Could they do the work eventually? Sort of. There are now 27 contractors doing work 10 people used to do. They also are constantly cutting corners and messing things up. The quality of work they do is sketchy at best and all have a DGAF mindset about clients and branches. But hey, at least the bottom line labor expenses looks juicy for a few higher ups looking to cash out.

@d6 is 100% spot on. An associates accomplishments, adherence, education and experience will not keep them safe from losing their job. If an overseas contractor can be taught the tasks (which many can, though the degree of competence wildly varies/they also do not communicate in English very well -written or verbal) YOU ARE IN DANGER OF LOSING YOUR JOB.

The Indian contractors' qualifications are they're cheap. That's it.

I've seen a few posts on here questioning how current associates with high levels of education and many years of EJ experience are getting lay off notices. What you all need to understand is that education and experience DO NOT MATTER. You are simply a number on a spreadsheet. Once that number gets too high and someone in India can do it for less, you're out. It's not fair at all, but that's the game this company plays now.
