Don’t wait for another round of layoffs! Symantec is way superior than Carbon Black!

We should wipe out all CB guys !!
@qv Obviously, the original post wasn't made by a Symantec dude. It was probably an angry CB dude pretending to be from Symantec.
I don't think anyone is blaming Symantec dudes for anything. The original post is basically "we Symantec are superior to you cr-ppy Carbon Black, we'll eat you so run away"... but superior matters for nothing even if that is true.
Why blame Symantec dudes? They were not responsible for selling VMware to Broadcom or splitting Carbon Black from VMware. These decisions were made by VMware leaders.
Also, if the Carbon Black brand and technology are so remarkable, why wasn’t there a buyer?
But yeah - same point - what's hard to replace (incumbency) is what's valuable. Platform stuff is that, apps are not, for example. The "best" software if easily replaceable doesn't matter at all that it's the best to Broadcom.
fyi - not a hardware/software comparison. Broadcom makes software for mainframes, they don't make any hardware in that area only IBM still does.
You’re comparing mainframe (hardware) with cr-ppy software? It’s much easier to replace software than hardware.
What tech is "superior" isn't what matters. The companies are acquired based mostly on incumbency, meaning old tech that's already embedded in rich companies that's hard to replace, even w "better tech". Look at Hock's beloved mainframe franchise, the tech is ancient but in every bank around the world and they pay a fortune to NOT move off of that even w price hikes galore. That's the game, it's about $$, not superior tech. Sorry, proud one.

Playing the blame game won't change the situation of ESG. Symantec also had lots of layoffs. We're all in the same boat, just hold tight and enjoy the final vestings.
What is the total headcount? Assuming 1300 would they go down to 1000 or lower?
We still have over 1000 employees if I remember correctly.
I doubt they will balance the headcount with the decreased revenue. In that case, over 50% cuts would be necessary, which could disrupt ESG operations.
But a reduction of 20% to 30% seems feasible.
Anyway, there's not too much time left for ESG.

What is the percentage of layoffs expected ?
Symantec or Carbon Black? It doesn’t matter.
Mass layoffs are expected at ESG to balance revenue with headcount.
