What do you do to handle potentially being laidoff at any time and knowing it will happen some day?
I am unfortunately an old timer and don't have many options.

I dont. There is not much point in worrying. I have zero say in who goes or stays. My goal atm is to put away any extra money, from my raise, qpb if we get one, apb, spp, etc and see if i can turn my whatever weeks of servernce to a few more.
The way i see it, you have 3 options: 1) stress yourself out all the time. 2) look for a new job and get out. Or 3) know you work at intels pleasure, you have no say. So just prepare just in case and dont worry about it.
Copious amounts of blow with a ho---r or two. Between the mounds is the best.
Or occasionally rubbin one out while on a call in the cube.
I'll sometimes show my sensitive side on a public forum and respond to myself. Self therapy is much cheaper
I don't believe OP is stress enough to leave Intel.
If you are really an old timer then you already know because we've been through so many of these over the years that nobody sane was ever really comfortable and not worried. It has always been an exercise in HR and BOD induced paranoia and stress. You should have always had a plan B. Many people bought multiple rental homes due to this. Others started side businesses. Still others just said goodbye and went to healthier places.
I don't believe OP knows what he doesn't know.
I always tell young people work and save your money as if you’re going to be out on the street by the time you are in fifties. Age discrimination, while illegal on paper, is rampant and near impossible to prove under current labor protection laws.
Hope you are not living paycheck to paycheck and have a buffer.
Do the minimum required for Intel and use your remaining time and energy to learn new skills on the side.
