It’s true. 8-9% cut. Another reorganization tomorrow. It was mostly to be expected since bringing on all that new expenses/employees with Splunk. It’s a year. Like clockwork.
@bv actually what AI does best is consolidate and track trends. management jobs are among the most threatened. subject experts with creative approaches the least.
@cy indeed - while there are truly jobs that will be eliminated by AI, it's just because for the most part AI makes the best performers more productive, and it can replace junior roles. AI is kinda great at doing what a summer intern does - but no more than that.
i think the jobs impacted by most of AI have already been impacted. and like you i believe the honeymoon phase is over. the data is there: over 70% of AI initiatives don't meet the projected expectations.
AI is an efficiency tool. just like people like elevator or phone switchboard operators no longer exist, some occupations will feel the pinch, but that's nothing new and will not be as catastrophic as people think. and probably the biggest impact will be in companies that over-rotated to depend on over-inflated market expectations. i rejected an Nvidia job because of that - inflated valuation, and last-in-first-out concerns.
@cy CSCO sells networking gear(not AI).. AI is just a passing star.. unless Nvidia takes over DC market with their HW offerings ...
y'all are dooming hard over AI. The honeymoon phase with AI is coming to end...people are realizing that the imagined future isn't anywhere close to its reality. Come back to this post in 2 years.
Just be prepared to hear "True AI is just a couple of years away" each year for the next 5-10 yrs.
@cj you mean during black out period ?? funny huh
@by
Sr DIR with IIT and Indian higher class veggie, Sold all 10,000 RSU sir.
@bh your 100 shares?
The minute AI takes my job will be the minute every other manager above me starts panicking and visiting this site. It'll only be a matter of time until AI comes for them next.
Very likely, similar to most of the hyperscalers spending billions yet laying off thousands due to AI efficiency. Could Cisco be different? Stock will suffer.
@bd sold everything I had at 72…
Buying more stock
pretty optimistic, actually.
There will be some minor restructuring in places, as all businesses do, but there won’t be any major LR. I wish there were to be since like half of the rest of the company I’d like to get one.
there are no layoffs just disgruntled whiners. Company will obviously continue to ride the AI wave with positive earnings. go touch grass
no layoffs man.. have a happy thanks giving !! see you around Feb2026 layoffs.
Please stop pulling stuff out of your a-s
if really has a announcement, Reuters, or Bloomberg will report in advance, because the purpose of layoff in Cisco is primary for Stock Price, the leader team want market know first that they are working hard to cut cost, and that will definitely help booting stock price.
Who told you there are layoffs for sure
