@ak somebody made money off of Desi's Imation spin. Probably the same bankers you refer to. That company was a shell of its former self within 5 to 10 years. SOLV is going to be split into pieces so some of the pieces may prosper. BB is envious that a 3M spin is paying its CEO 40 million whilst he gets a meager 20 million.

Shareholder derivative suits are almost always mechanisms to enrich lawyers. That said, I’d be curious to know of any successful company ever spun out of 3M. The list of failures is long.
