Thread regarding Toronto-Dominion Bank layoffs

2 Weeks Notice?

People that have left the bank - did you give 2 weeks notice? Did they require you to work the 2 weeks? Trying to figure out my strategy here - I don't want to give 2 weeks and then have them tell me my termination would be that day. Thoughts?

Here is what the law says: If you give your 2 weeks notice, and the bank lets you go now, by law they have to pay you for the full 2 weeks.

I wouldn't give them any notice. they will probably turf you out right away. This has been the case with many people in the banks, not just TD

I left last fall and gave two weeks notice. Worked about 6 of those days and then my manager cut me lose. Might depend on the area and your manager. It's possible your manager could chose to terminate you that day if they wanted, so if you are fearful of that, just resign on your last day with no notice. Let's be real here, if the company felt like it, they could fire you today for no reason and there's nothing you could do about it. Sad times we are living here...
