The only reason I would like to survive these cuts is that it is much easier to find a job when you already have a job. I wonder what GF will look like after the cuts? It is obvious that there is no plan to fill the gap and that the survivors will be overwhelmed more than ever.

That is yet another problem at Globalfoundries. So many people have left over the past few years. Attrition is super high (aprox. 20%) for multiple consecutive years now. And those positions never really get backfilled. We scramble to cover for the gap being told it’s temporary and there are recs out to fill it but overtime no one gets hired or brought in to fill it. And covering these extra duties just becomes the new norm and we get used to it. It’s like that apologue about a frog in a pot that is slowly heating up to boiling.
Then it happens again and again. Everyone I know is overworked and stretched entirely too thin. If you really sit and think about it, I bet you will realized you are doing the work and responsibilities of 2-3 jobs/roles but only getting paid for one (and underpaid at that). And there is a feeling that we should be grateful for it.
This resent resource action will just exasperate the situation. Time to get out of Globalfoundries. Find work that pays you appropriately for the work you do.
here's the real answer: no one that posts here knows
I don’t think it will look much different. The manufacturing teams will remain largely intact. The work from home crowd and E shift non manufacturing teams will be reduced. May be a few more available seats in the cafe and spots at the ping pong table after all is said and done.
They said in the talk if this action doesn’t work they will take more extreme measures which I believe is the major offshoring. I think it will look fine after this first action on site and not be very noticeable in Malta as many work from home anyway
