Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Lost

I've switched teams and projects multiple times now.  All the projects have been canceled or have gone nowhere.

Each group makes up a three-ring circus act.

The first ring contains the management team, along with friends and family. To get into this ring, you need to kiss a-s or be part of the family. They really don't do anything except hold meetings, talk and make lengthy PowerPoint. Never say anything bad about anyone within this ring if you want to survive.

The second ring contains the full-time employees who have been with the company for a long long time, let's call them lifers (minimum ten-plus years, more like twenty-plus years). Some are good and know what they're doing, but most of the knowledgeable ones have voluntarily left during the layoffs. The remaining ones just don't really care where the company is  going, but just waiting time out to retire.

The third are the green badges and newer people; this is where I sit. Some call us expensables or butt wipes.

I'm really surprised that I've not been nominated for layoffs. I've been told by my peers that they try to save us to keep their kingdom big, but eventually we will face the axe when time comes. We know what we're doing is not really meaningful, but we just occupy a seat. The ones that could guide and help have voluntarily left a couple of years ago or some have been pushed out, as they didn't belong to the first ring.

I'm just lost and waiting for my turn to leave with a package. The code that I write just gets archived and the cycle itself.

Some of the lifers have told me to get onto a task force whenever possible and get my name out there; the individuals on task forces get rewarded nicely (bonus pay). I was told that it's good sh-t to be in, as you get paid big bucks for fixing the sh-t mess made by the brownies.

I feel that my job has been to attend meetings and to keep an eye out on teams to promptly respond. That's been my hybrid work cycle for the last five years.

People sh-t on LBT, because his butt is neither brown nor white. We all know LBT is not here to save the company or care about the people. He's here to make a buck and get a package of his own for retirement. The feeling is mutual all around. None of us are trying to save the company or anyone either, as we know that we get beat our Asian and Indian competitors; we're not going to work that hard (996 su-ks for work-life balance). LOL, we like our 4-hour workdays.

Needed to rant, as I feel lost, and I've lost all hope for this company. I'm not alone with these lost feelings.

@OP lbt don't need the money, he already has his own, what lbt needs to do is sabotage the silly American company to save his family from torture in the motherland

Managers, if you feel guilty of wrongfully terminating an employee who was genuinely showing up, admit your mistake and do something to course correct. You have rubbished years of effort in order to protect yourself and all your sycophantic reportees. The company is better off without you and may get restored to it's former glory.

I feel the same. People no longer want to train due to the biannual mass layoffs. Yet they tell you to “own your training”. Training is like a popularity contest since so much is tribal knowledge and not well documented.

It’s going to hurt Foundry but everyone is too short sighted about surviving the layoffs. Intel will never get ISO compliance/cert or Foundry customers acting like this. Just look at the PR in the media. It’s a circus.

For foundry you need stability, standardization, and a solid QMS that everyone follows and is trained.

It’s the managers who didn’t lose their jobs who are keeping this culture mess alive. I assume bc they are scared of losing their jobs for making waves and doing what’s actually good for Intel.
