MTVE?

Any news on what's happening with MTVE (other than what's been reported, which doesn't sound promising).

@e6 legacy teams on the shows were already laid off … ask around. it never mattered how well you performed if you weren't in that inner circle

@e6 that’s the million dollar question, what happens to AC, KF, TW, and others?

With Unscripted MTVE shows moving to George and scripted to PTV. Will the legacy teams on these shows move to respective new divisions?

If skydance was smart, instead of getting rid of Comedy Central and mtv they should revive it to what it used to be. Our generation feeds off nostalgia and would eat that up. People keep saying cable is dying but all I hear from everyone is that streaming services altogether cost more than cable and WiFi combined and they keep removing shows for tax write offs. People are tired of these shows being released in one shot and everyone I talk to says they miss cable now.

If they were smart they would bring back music forward shows with concerts studio sessions interviews tours etc and then turn Comedy Central into a new adult swim go head first into creator driven adult comedy from no name creators not celebs to save on cost go grass roots.

And if they were even smarter they take all of this and do it online utilizing social media and YouTube to their advantage. There are tons of shows we still own that can be put on a 24 hour live stream etc.

I think there are big advantages here to reviving mtv and Comedy Central to their glory days I just think we’ve sug ourselves into this streaming service hole that every network has as well and we are never going to get out of it. Everything is going to collapse in on itself media wise and go back to cable eventually. There is already a resurgence of dvds where people are trying to preserve physical media I am sure it will happen with cable coming back. Streaming does not work and is ki-ling the entertainment industry. The reason this company is in the mess it is now is because of it and because we continue to run cr-p like ridic for 24 hours. Of course cable is “dying” when that’s all we play is the office and ridic on repeat and the only new episodes of shows are from dying franchises that are constantly being brought back to life with new seasons.

This merger will either make or break this place. I really hope they understand the potential they are sitting on with these networks.

@dd that’s probably the d-mbest thing I’ve read on the Internet this year so far. I don’t doubt that you are old AF you certainly sound like it.

@ct that sounds like an absolute you’re an old dinosaur comment. MTV switched programming because of modern technology and things like YouTube. You know they still have MTV classic right? Nobody watches it.

@bj I worked for the company probably before you were born. Apparently, you're an urchin who doesn't understand the history of the brand which you poorly attempt to defend. There's a reason that MTV received push back when it was created. It promoted a false narrative to young people that somehow, they were being oppressed by their parents and that they needed to rebel not only against the parents, but societal norms, family structure and everything for which they stood. With this gaslighting in place, MTV promoted itself as the parental surrogate (Problem, Reaction, Solution). I'm well aware that MTV has spread its disease into other areas of broadcasting aside from "music" because I was there and I was disgusted even then. Your lack of concentration and reading comprehension is what's stupid, which is probably why you'll move up the ranks and into the upper echelons of Paramount management if you haven't already.

@ct Absolutely correct and well stated. There is a silver lining, however, in that fewer young people want anything to do with the MTV brand.

American cultural decline can be traced back to the exact moment when mtv switched from music to sh---y reality tv. This led us down to path towards kardashians, influencers and various other new fresh hellscapes

@a5 huh? You think MTVE is music television lol. Clearly you don’t work at paramount. You do know MTVE produces all the top shows on p+ right? Lol. Your reply screams stupidity.

Who cares? Humanity has evolved away from MTVE because of a desire for more meaningful forms of music enjoyment. The people have woken up to the putrid stench and have spoken loudly. Let this degenerate cancer go to the dust bin of history. The truth is, no one wants their MTV.
