TrinityRail, a railcar leasing subsidiary of Trinity Industries in Dallas, is laying off 170 Texas employees as it shuts down its Longview facility at 708 Jordan Valley Road by September 30, 2025. The cuts include senior welders, painters, and production staff. The company’s July 31 quarterly report showed a $335 million revenue drop and operating profit decline from $141.9 million to $95.4 million in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, citing fewer external deliveries, reduced lease payouts, and downsizing costs.
While CEO Jean Savage expressed optimism about leasing performance and recovering railcar demand, the restructuring aims to consolidate operations, with another Longview facility 11 miles away remaining open.
Trinity Industries manufactures entirely in Texas and Mexico and has been a major state employer since its founding in Dallas 85 years ago.
