Marriott Vacations Worldwide just let almost all of the finance and accounting, tax, and HR employees know they were being eliminated and moved over to the outsourcing company, HCL. If you don't accept your role there, regardless of pay offered. You will be terminated and no severance given. Hundreds affected, weeks after all employees were required to sign waivers stating you could not sue or join a class action against them under any circumstances. MVW is scamming it's employees and the labor system in not having to publicly report a mass layoff event.

I believe you meant to say that the severence was to be 1 week pay for every YEAR worked, not 1 week pay for every WEEK worked. I sure hope it hasn’t changed to less. It’s also crazy that they have 45 days to pay it once you accept the severance package.

ALSO, RUMOR HAS IT THAT THE SEVERANCE IS NOW NOT WHAT THEIR POLICY STATES- A WEEKS SEVERANCE FOR EVERY WEEK YOU WERE EMPLOYED! IT IS SUPPOSEDLY LESS WITH A CHANCE AT NEOGIATING (HUH! RIGHT! LKE THAT IS REALLY GOING TO HAPPEN!) WILL KNOW FOR SURE COME THE 20TH OF THIS MONTH AS THAT IS WHEN WE ARE TO RECEIVE THE "SEVERANE LETTER" FROM HCLTECH.... MORE TO FOLLOW
Caring culture - really? MVW are snakes that have no heart. The devastation they’ve caused to so many loyal associates is overwhelming. The masks these people wore prior to the layoffs is embarrassing. HR was the worst because we all felt something was coming. Once the news hit, they wanted nothing more to do with the people they spent their days with. Awful company.

John Geller came from Author Anderson that shredded papers at Enron. Enron supposedly had a lot of cash and then none. Same at MVW!
They want them to train cheaper labor then they will dump them.
The end of this week they started letting people in operations know their positions are being eliminated or they can accept new job titles with a pay cut to do the same work. No severance offered. John Gellar is running the company into the ground since he took over.
That type of treatment is not what Mr. Bill Marriott always said…. “Take care of your associates and they will take care of the customers” that went down the drain!!!
This is all true. If we don’t accept the transfer we will be laid off with no severance. They literally sent out an email late one day stating we had a mandatory meeting the next morning where they announced everything. They only gave us a few days to accept the role with the new company. For HR, our roles at this new company is only 6 months and then we will be laid off with severance unless we find a position within the same company.

I would like to clarify what we’ve been told by HCLTech about severance. We’ve been told by HCLTech that we WILL GET MVW SEVERANCE based on our MWV service yrs if we accept the offer from HCLTech and stay with HCLTech for 12 months without being fired for cause, or if prior to completing 12 months at HCLTech our job at HCLTech is eliminated and we haven’t “redeployed” to another job at HCLTech.
So as long as you don’t get yourself fired by HCLTech during the first 12 months you DO get severance… it just depends on WHEN you get it. Fingers crossed they aren’t lying to us.
