When will the severance hit

My entire team was laid off, my manager who moved to our location was laid off. He was the anchor for our entire sort test development team was given the axe with us. The people left over were in Arizona and aligned with the office mandate. They did not know how to do 90% of the job, they asked for calls to be walked through the job. One girl seemed like she didn’t know how to put her shoes on. They remained. I was promoted 1 month before being laid off with a “Far Exceed Expectation” rating. The innovative software we created will now be maintained by people who for the past few years would call to be walked through just setting up the environment to compile the framework. The talented engineers were laid off strategically and left the people who relied on them. I feel this is sabotage given the low performers were retained and the innovators were laid off. Remove me from the equation,
my peers that were laid off were driving the change needed to modernize all processes

This is not surprising at all. Knowing what to cut is the kind of know-how Intel does not have either. The higher ups are all "charismatic" silver tongued conman who got promoted for having "coordinated" and "leveraged" someone else's work.

It was like that even in Grove's time. It's a company of middleman hit by enormous luck. Now the luck ran out.

@OP I hope you find a role that truly appreciates your talents. These layoffs have taken out a lot of strong people. I don’t think it’s malicious, just more of the same ignorance that’s been steering this ship into the rocks for years. Intel desperately needs to modernize, but the culture is built on resisting change, so it’s no surprise progress has been painfully slow.

Every outsider thinks they can make a difference, and within a few years, they usually realize they underestimated just how deeply broken things are. Most either give up and move on, or worse, get shown the door.

It’s a real loss to see you go. I hope you land somewhere that embraces innovation instead of defending itself against it. Intel’s in a rough spot, and frankly, I think it’ll take cutting well below 75k before any meaningful change can happen, but I’m still betting on total collapse before a real turnaround.

@a7 you are wasting time trying to logically understand why you lost your job. At this point it doesn’t really matter. Focus that energy on the future. Just look at it as Intel’s loss and move on. Don’t give Intel another thought.

@a4 It seems like you did not read my post. Firing the people that are trying to fix the mistakes of the people you keep on payroll isn’t how you run a profitable and successful company. Whether or not I was treated as a contract worker while on salary has nothing to do with running the company into the ground purposefully while trying to get people to quit with multiple different tactics. I was very proud to work for Intel given the history of innovative American engineering, now it seems the current head honchos do not understand or are purposefully driving the company into the ground. Why else would you lay off an employee who had just been promoted a month before with a rating in the top 10% while saying you want to retain top engineering talent. This is a contradiction, plain as day. My peers that were laid off were more talented than me

@a1 You may be right, I believed there was a purpose in the past few years. It seems I was duped and my teams hard work was in vane. The demoralization is not insignificant as it makes me want to farm and eat good instead of traveling to a sh-t city just to be trapped in a lease in a city with $2,500 rent as you are constantly harassed by strangers. These companies need to understand there is more to life than getting couped up in terrible places when the technology they created allows talented and driven engineers to work from the most beautiful edges of the Earth. I feel like they laid off the best engineers and left the worst. That seems like it wasn’t a business decision and a deliberate sabotage
