They call us each month for an OT cut talk,
We nod and suggest, "Let deadlines walk."
They frown and reply, "That’s not in the plan,"
We say, "Hire more," they say, "Find another span."

We shrug and agree, "Then we’ll work late again,"
They nod, "Yes, keep going, we’ll fix it… someday, my friend."
Two years have gone by, same story we hear,
A thousand OT hours, year after year.

We work a ton of OT and every month get called in to a meeting to reduce our OT. We say perfect let’s push the completion dates back and they say that is not an option. We say that’s fine then up the head count so we can get more work done and they tell us that is not an option. Well tell them then to stay on target we need to work the extra hours and they say ok keep doing what you are doing and we will come up with a solution to stop OT. This has been going on for 2-3 years now. We usually get around 1000 hours of OT a year.

Yes. More than I want.

Employees now want to do only the most basic of jobs.
