It’s not a cult, it’s not a religion, its not a way of life. Its a job and nothing more. Be as loyal to the company as the company is to you. Oh, that’s “none” you say, well there you go. Why give a two weeks notice when you leave? They don’t give you a two weeks notice when they let you go.

No matter which company you work for, Microsoft or not, job security is long gone. It has been for a decade. Some advice if I may. Work toward saving up a year’s worth of pay. It takes a long time to do this of course but the peace of mind you get when you get there is worth it. Every bonus or pay raise, give 10% to yourself and put the rest away in savings. Instead of feeding the desire to have the latest and greatest TV, Iphone, computer, car etc…. put the money aside.
And that's why Microsoft will continue to su-k and cut employees. This isn't 1920 anymore where you have cheap wages and no automation.
You are living in an AI robotics world where if you don't provide something extraordinary, you will be automated or be forced to take a low salary.
Many people associate their self worth what job they have. Microsoft leverages this to their advantages. “You want to be an esteemed MS heavy hitter, right?” Hey, I hear you. Its awesome seeing your name on public articles as an MS expert. Over time though, the cost can be too much. So much in fact that all you can remember is…..work and the reward, money, is not worth it. Before I left MS, I told a colleague. “I can’t remember anything be work from this past year. During my retirement years, I don’t want to look back and all I can reflect back on is work.
@cz You should know be working at msft then. Leave and make room for someone else who's more deserving than someone like you. I sure hope AI will find you and fire you!
Agree. I am here to milk the MS cash cow. MS is here to milk me for the most amount of work they can get. I think I made out like a bandit these past 20 plus years. My bank is fat and happy. It's all gravy now until something happens, but hard to leave free money with barely any work.
