What is China for China? I heard this in AMD and GF press releases lately. Is it a tax break?

@OP China-for-China: makes sense based on GF automotive play, given massive Chinese auto market. They’re way cheaper than American cars which is why tariffs on Chinese cars- esp EVs - even under Biden admin, was 100%. I believe Trump raised it. For GF, this means basic chips that go into cars can only be sold into China by playing nice with China.
Not crazy about making nice with geopolitical rival and authoritarian regime, though. Seems morally wrong.
I might not feel so bad about it if US would do the same for us.
“GF advanced its China-for-China strategy by entering into a definitive agreement with a local Chinese foundry to support GF's customers with reliable supply in mainland China. Customers will benefit from GF's automotive grade process technologies and manufacturing expertise, to serve their domestic Chinese demand.”
