I've trained plenty of folks before, but for some reason, this one feels different. Things they want to me to show him...it's not something that was required before.

Trust your gut on this one. I left voluntarily about 15 months ago, but I had a similar experience and decided to head for the exit because I had a decent opportunity. You are a number on a spreadsheet to them. And also know that I left to go to a Big 4, and they are also offshoring to India/Phillipines/Mexico/South America at an accelerated rate. Plan for bumpy roads.
