Thread regarding TATA Consultancy Services layoffs

Massive Layoff to hit TCS this year

In an internal post TCS management announced a massive 12,000 person layoff will happen at TCS in 2025. What was further revealed was that most of the layoffs will occur in the USA against US workers. They will be backfilled with H1-Bs from India soon after. This is a classic pivot American workers for cheap H1-B slave labor from India.
TCS is a dishonest corporation and should loose all its American visa privileges.

Summary (TCS Layoffs)

  • Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) plans to lay off around 2% of its global workforce, affecting over 12,000 mid-to-senior level employees
  • TCS employs more than 600,000 people and earned $31 billion in revenue in 2025
  • The layoffs come despite:

    • 6% growth in company performance
    • 24.3% operating profit margin (industry’s highest)
    • $47,000 revenue per employee (up nearly 16% year-over-year)
    • 20% dividend increase for shareholders
  • TCS claims the move is part of a “reskilling and redeployment” initiative, saying some employees can't transition into tech-heavy roles

  • Unions allege violations of India’s Industrial Disputes Act, accusing TCS of:

    • Forcing resignations without proper compensation
    • Avoiding legal procedures for layoffs
    • Replacing experienced staff with entry-level workers paid 80–85% less
  • The Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and Karnataka IT/ITes Employees’ Union (KITU) demand legal action and have planned protests for August 19

  • A reconciliation meeting between TCS and labor representatives is scheduled for August 6 in Karnataka
